Want a fast, responsive mouse? Logitech is the go-to company for high-end mice and peripherals.
The Logitech G series of mice are one of the most popular choices, and two main models stand out from the rest:
- Logitech G703
- Logitech G403
But which one is better?
Let’s first start off with the fact that the G403 comes in:
The G703 is a wireless model, so if you’re looking for a strictly wired version, you’ll want to look towards the Logitech G403. When you use a wired mouse, the response time may be slightly better and you don’t have to worry about the mouse dying.

For the purpose of this review, we’ll be reviewing both wireless versions.
Logitech G703 vs G403 by Specifications
Logitech offers a very similar mouse with the G403 and G703, so users will find that both models are similar in price. In terms of battery life, the two mice have the same battery life, and this will be:
- 24 hours with RGB enabled
- 32 hours without RGB enabled
So, you’ll have more than enough time to game with your mouse before needing to charge it. If you use your computer for eight hours a day, you’ll only have to recharge your mouse every three days – that’s not bad at all for a wireless mouse.

So, on the outside, both of these mice have one of the best sensors in the industry with the PMW3366.
The sensor is able to offer precision tracking that very few mice offer. Since both mice have the same sensor, you can expect near-identical performance. There are no issues with tilt-slamming, and tracking is smooth.
Length, height, width and weight are exactly the same.
DPI increments, which aren’t listed, are also the same at: 200 – 12,000.
Logitech G703
The G403 and G703 both have a six-button setup. You’ll have the following buttons to choose from:
- Standard left and right mouse button
- Two side buttons
- Scroll wheel
- DPI
The two side buttons are a nice addition when gaming. Commonly used buttons can be bound to these two side buttons, allowing for faster gameplay overall. These two side buttons can also be bound in some programs to make quick key access easier.
But this is also where we see one of the main differences between the G403 vs G703.
Logitech has made the G703 more durable, with the two standard buttons having a durability rating of 50 million clicks. That’s a massive difference over the Logitech G403 which has a click rating of 20 million.
What does this mean?
It’s simple: the G703’s buttons will last twice as long as the buttons on the G403. For an intense user, this can make a big difference. Gamers or anyone that is at their computer all day long clicking away will appreciate the added durability that the G703 provides.
Anyone that prefers a heavier mouse will be able to add a 10g weight to the bottom to either model.
RGB Coloring and Charging Options
Logitech offers full RGB coloring with both mice, and this is a neat feature in the aesthetics department. Logitech allows you to install the company’s software to gain full control over your RGB coloring.
RGB can be turned off, and this will allow you to extend the life of your battery to 32 hours instead of 24.
If you don’t really care about aesthetics, turn off the RGB to reduce the frequency of recharging.
The G703 does include PowerPlay compatibility, while the G403 does not have PowerPlay compatibility.
This is a significant difference, and it’s what gives the G703 the first edge in our comparison.
With PowerPlay, you’re able to charge the mouse with a wireless mat. The wireless mat can be used with a hard or cloth mat, and you can continue gameplay while the mouse if charging. This is a nice feature that allows the mouse to remain completely wireless even during the charging process.
The Logitech G403 requires you to plug the mouse into a USB charger.
Both units will charge, but with PowerPlay, you’re able to charge your mouse wirelessly, which is definitely a nice perk.
Logitech G703 vs G403 Review
Based off of the specifications above, we can see that the G403 and G703 are very similar in design and function. The main difference is PowerPlay, which is recommended for any serious gamers or anyone that doesn’t want to deal with a USB charger.
But how do these two mice perform?
Exceptionally.
The PMW3366 sensor is one of the best that you can buy. What makes this sensor better than the rest is that it has high-end pixel-by-pixel tracking, and it’s an industry standard for optical mice.
Excessive swiping does not cause spin-out when using the G403 or G703, so it’s a very smooth experience.
Shape is the same, too, which is nice thanks to the arch provided.
The arch of the G series fits most hands perfectly, and there’s a thumb groove that tapers out to allow you to perfectly hold the mouse. You’ll also have ease of access to all mouse buttons, and this is what is most important for gamers.
The first and second mouse buttons are both essential for all computing uses, and they’re responsive. Remember, the G703 offers 50 million click durability over 20 million for the G403, so it does offer superior longevity for your two main buttons.
Comfort grooves have been incorporated into the buttons, too. These comfort grooves may be subtle to most users, but they do improve the user’s experience. Ergonomic in design, the mice fit comfortably in the user’s palms and can be used for hours without cramping or discomfort.
Response time is 1 ms, so the mouse moves as you move.
With DPI ranging from 200 – 12,000 DPI, consistent responsiveness and tracking accuracy is offered. The high DPI range is able to maximize the PMW3366 sensor.
Rubber grips are placed on the left and right sides of the mouse for added comfort and better overall control. Mechanical button tension keeps the left and right mouse buttons primed to click.
In total, there are six programmable buttons.
Onboard memory will be able to keep your mouse customized at all times.
A cable is provided for charging for anyone not using PowerPlay. The cable is 2.13m and comes braided.
And let’s not forget that Logitech offers their own software for their mice. You’ll want to install this software to leverage the true power of your mouse. Within the Logitech software, you’re able to:
- Customize RGB colors
- Create your own macros
- Create your own shortcuts
With six total button options, one of the industry’s best sensors, and a customizable weight, the G403 and G703 are both a great FPS gaming mouse. The G703 is a slight upgrade over the G403, with the main difference being the PowerPlay compatibility offered.
The G703 is more durable, but PowerPlay is really what makes this mouse stand out.
Both are a great option, and if you don’t plan on using PowerPlay, than the G403 may be the better option. Otherwise, the G703 is the go-to choice.
