MSI MEG X570 ACE is a high-end gaming motherboard packed with features and often a top pick among editors. The motherboard supports 2nd and 3rd generation AMD Ryzen and the Ryzen with Radeon Vega Graphics.
Mystic light infinity allows for colorful lighting with endless light effects for anyone who wants to ensure that their system is aesthetically pleasing. There’s even a Mystic Light App which allows for 29 additional effects.
The Ace is close in quality and function to the Hero VIII, and it’s an ATX motherboard that also includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. One drawback with this board is that there are no video outputs on the rear panel, but there’s a lot to like with this motherboard.

When you start digging into the motherboard, you’ll find that it includes:

Cooling takes a slightly different approach with this model thanks to the advanced thermal design. There’s an extended heat pipe that will help remove the heat from the motherboard and internal components. The heat-pipe is essential for keeping your gaming rig cool even during intense gaming sessions.
But there’s more.
There’s also the unit’s Frozr heatsink design, zero Frozr technology and M.2 Shield Frozr.
Audio on this motherboard is exceptional thanks to the unit’s Audio Boost HD technology. The technology isolates the unit’s circuitry to allow for true, dedicated audio processing. There’s also the inclusion of the ESS DAC, with an amplifier that helps boost audio quality even further.
You do have options to overclock your system, and the maximum you’ll be able to achieve is 4.5 GHz in most cases. In terms of temperature, you can expect temperatures under load to be a cool 45-50C.
One additional thing that I would like to mention is that the motherboard has a well-placed setup for dual-triple slot GPUs. While a lot of the competition will block the airflow, this unit was designed to be able to accommodate GPU setups without interrupting airflow.
For hardware longevity and stability, this may be one of the most underrated aspects of the MEG X570 Ace.
3. ASRock X570 Taichi
The Taichi is another great motherboard which comes with 8 SATA 6Gb/s connectors at a lower price than competing models. ASRock offers support for the Ryzen 2000 and Ryzen 3000 series of processors, and the company has also provided support for WiFi 6, which seems common among high-end motherboards.
Support for DDR 4666+ RAM is offered, and there’s plenty of space for expansion thanks to the following slots:
- 3 x PCIe 4.0 x16
- 2 x PCIe 4.0 x 1
There’s also support for a multi-GPU setup thanks to full compatibility with the Quad SLI and CrossFireX technology.
Audio is provided with 7.1 CH HD Audio support.
When you look at the I/O panel, you’ll find that there are inputs for a lot, including:
- 8 USB 3.2 (2 front and 6 rear)
- Thunderbolt 5-pin
BIOS is intuitive, and you can always choose to reset the BIOS from the back panel, too. When you go into the BIOS, you’ll find that there are plenty of customization options minus all of the confusion that a lot of BIOS setups have.
But there are two slight issues with this motherboard that I do want to address. The M.2 covers can get in the way, and the chipset fan is loud. While the last two motherboards reviewed cost more, they’re much more efficient when it comes to cooling than the Taichi.
That doesn’t mean that this is a bad motherboard because it’s still a great option for the budget-friendly buyer.
You can manually turn down the fan, too. When you turn the fan down, you’ll be able to lower the fan’s overall noise production.
There’s also the 14-phase power delivery (12+2), which doesn’t get enough attention. What this power delivery does is ensure that you have 12 phases of power for your CPU cores, which is definitely a nice added perk.
You can maximize your RAM up to 128GB with 4666MHz (OC).
A lot of the features will be overkill for most users, but it will be able to support the next generation processor that comes with 16 cores and 32 threads. The price is a major bonus, offering a mid-tier price with the features that most of the higher-end motherboards boast about.
With overclocking and great performance, the Taichi is a solid choice for anyone running a Ryzen 7 3700x setup.
4. GIGABYTE X570 AORUS Elite
GIGABYTE’s X570 AORUS Elite is designed to be a great option for the budget-friendly build. The board costs 25% to 50% less than some of the previous models we’ve reviewed, but it’s often out of stock, which is a concern for anyone that needs a rig up and running now.
But the AORUS remains an impressive option, with true 12 phase digital VRM and an extended VRM heatsink for additional cooling power.
Four DIMMs are available for support of DDR4, both dual channel ECC and non-ECC unbuffered. Considered a gaming motherboard, this model focuses on noise production to enhance the gamer’s experience.
Noise was an issue with the last motherboard, but with this model, you’ll find that the company incorporates Smart Fan 5 into the design of this motherboard. Smart Fan 5 allows for hybrid fan headers with fan stop and noise detection functionality.
If the fans are too loud, the motherboard will adjust the fans as necessary to keep the internal components cool while also ensuring that the user experience optimal. Digging deeper, this motherboard offers:
- 14-phase digital DrMOS VRM (12+2) for optimal CPU power
- 2 x M.2 thermal guard to dissipate heat before it becomes an issue
- DDR4 XMP support with compatibility for 4000MHz and higher
Users will appreciate the easy BIOS updates on the I/O panel as well as a front panel USB Type-C connector for easy charging of your mobile devices. The integrated I/O shield has more than enough inputs, with:
- 4 x USB 3.0
- 2 x USB 3.1
- Ethernet port
- Line in and out
Keep in mind that there’s no built-in WiFi option or Bluetooth on this board, but other versions of the AORUS do offer this feature. You can buy a separate card and plug it into one of the expansion slots.
The unit features 1 x PCIe 4.0 and 1 x PCIe 3.0 x 16 slots. Expansion slots include 1 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x 4 and 2 x PCIe 4.0/3.0 x 1.
Audio is crisp thanks to the AMP-UP Audio with ALC 1200.
Although this model doesn’t include Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, it’s still a solid board that is perfect for someone trying to stretch their budget to purchase a better graphics card or processor. A lot of the features that are missing will not be of much notice to the normal user.
A lot of people, especially gamers, do not choose to go with a Wi-Fi setup because of the inconsistency with latency and ping. BIOS is already updated when the unit is shipped, so there’s little for the consumer to do aside from installing their hardware and start gaming.
5. GIGABYTE X570 Gaming X
GIGABYTE’s X570 Gaming X cuts out the additional features you don’t need while offering a better overall price for their motherboard. The unit supports both 2nd and 3rd generation Ryzen processors, and it also comes with true 12-phase digital VRM for better performance and powering of your processor.
Audio noise guards and high-quality audio capacitors keep the unit’s sound to a minimum.
RGB Fusion with multi-zone addressable LED is provided to keep the unit’s aesthetics on par with the other motherboards on our list. The company has chosen to provide the reliable Realtek 8118 LAN for high-speed internet connectivity.
Smart Fan 5 has also been added to this motherboard to keep the fan’s noise levels low and also includes a fan stop option when additional cooling is no longer needed.
GIGABYTE has incorporated an advanced thermal design to allow for better heat dissipation overall. The motherboard utilizes enlarged MOSFET heatsinks that will improve thermal performance and increase the area when heat dissipation occurs.
The thermal pads have also been upgraded to allow for 1.5mm pads that dissipate heat better than the competition.
DDR4 XMP support is provided with 4000MHz and beyond compatibility.
PCIe Armor has been added to the PCIe slots, which will provide the extra strength and support needed for the world’s heaviest graphics cards. When it comes time to update your board’s BIOS, you’ll also appreciate the dedicated Q-Flash Plus button which allows you to download BIOS updates to a USB flash drive and update your system with ease.
The integrated I/O shield features:
- PS2 mouse and keyboard port
- 4 USB 3.0 ports (one for BIOS)
- Ethernet port
- 2 additional ports
Internally, there are 6 SATA 6Gb/s connectors which are all controlled by the X570 chipset. The unit does have PCIe 4.0 x16, PCIe 4.0 x4 and PCIe 4.0 x1 ports as well as dual PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 connectors with M.2 thermal guard.
The GIGABYTE Gaming GbE LAN also includes bandwidth management software, which will be able to keep your Internet connection running smoothly when gaming.
One thing I do want to mention is that you need to update BIOS before installing the Ryzen 3600 or higher. The BIOS that ships with this model is outdated, and if you don’t update it, you’ll be lucky if you get the unit to boot up at all. The BIOS update is fast and easy, and after a few initial freezes, it will be running fine.
Thankfully, there’s an easy way to upgrade your BIOS right from the back I/O panel.
If you plan on doing any extensive upgrades in the future, this may not be the motherboard for you. But if you want an inexpensive motherboard to accommodate the Ryzen 3600 or 3700 now with no intentions of upgrading further in the future, this motherboard is a great buy.
6. MSI MPG X570 Gaming PRO Carbon
MSI’s MPG Gaming Pro is the final motherboard on our list, and it comes with high-speed data transfer, Wi-Fi and other great features. The unit comes with built-in Wi-Fi 6, and MSI has included a performance thermal design.
The performance thermal design keeps your hardware components cooler and running for longer.
There’s M.2 shield Frozr, Zero Frozr technology and a Frozr heatsink design incorporated into the design of the motherboard. The Frozr heatsink offers active cooling, with double ball bearing fans and propeller blade design.
I/O features a lot of ports for quick and easy connections, including:
- 2 x USB 2.0 ports
- 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports
- USB 3.2 Gen2 Ports Type A+C
- LAN port
- HD Audio connectors

Built for performance, the PCIe slots have been reinforced, server-grade PCB has been used, IR Digital PWM is incorporated and there’s also core boost technology all built into the board.
AMD Turbo USB is present on the back panel and a Lightning Gen 4 solution as well as DDR4 Boost allow for faster, better performance overall.
Mystic Light is used, too. The Mystic Light App allows you to customize your unit’s internal lighting with 29 effects. There are 16.8 million colors used.
If you want to connect to your computer using Bluetooth, you can. Bluetooth is built-in and two-way MU-MIMO technology allows you to rapidly transfer data at speeds of up to 2.4Gbps.
Core Boost is the latest development in CPU power delivery and allows for premium power to be supplied to the CPU when needed. Core Boost allows you to maximize your CPU’s performance to enhance speeds and enjoy better overall performance when gaming.
Internally, you’ll find that this model has 4 X DIMM with dual channel and a total maximum memory capacity of 128GB. You’ll be able to run 4400+ MHz sticks in this model. There are also 2 x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots available along with 2 x M.2 connectors.
There are 6x SATA 6GB/s ports available, too.
Overclocking is definitely possible, and it’s important to note that there is no DisplayPort present. If you need DisplayPort, you may be able to find an adapter that will allow you to run it. But all modern graphics cards already have a DisplayPort built into the card, so you shouldn’t have any issues with this.
MSI designed this board from the ground up for gaming, and the RGB sync definitely helps make your entire rig look great for gaming. BIOS is intuitive with a nice design, and for the low price, it’s definitely a go-to motherboard for budget-conscious shoppers. It may lack a few features that the high-end models offer, but it performs very well.
